Asian Petanque: Thailand make clean sweep of all 5 titles

Thailand made a clean sweep of all five titles in the 1st Asian Petanque Championship, which concluded here at KIIT University today. Thailand completed the clean sweep by adding the men’s singles, women’s singles and mixed doubles crowns to the men’s and women’s doubles titles they had won yesterday. Cambodia finishes runners-up in all five events.

Petanque Federation of India of organised the three-day championship, under the aegis of Asian Boules Sport Confederation. KIIT and KISS founder and Rajya Sabha Member Prof Achyuta Samanta congratulated the participating teams and thanked PFI for conducting the championship in Odisha.

RESULTS:

Men’s singles: Semifinals:
Thailand beat India-II 13-1; Cambodia beat Chinese Taipei 13-5. Final: Thailand beat Cambodia 13-8.

Women’s singles: Semifinals: Cambodia beat Malaysia 13-7; Thailand beat Chinese Taipei 13-8. Final: Thailand beat Cambodia 13-11.

Mixed doubles: Semifinals: Thailand beat Chinese Taipei 13-2; Cambodia beat Malaysia 13-3. Final: Thailand beat Cambodia 13-10.
